Camera frustrations

As I left town the other night, I looked at the sky and it was this incredible shade of light purple with white clouds. I couldn’t see a good place to pull over and try to capture it.

夕方に運転する中に空を見った。とてもきれいライラック色い空と白い雲があった。駐車できる所が見えなかったから、写真を撮らなかった。

When I finally found a place, it had changed colors and my camera still didn’t capture the range of colors that I saw.

所が見つけたら、空の色が変わった。でも、カメラより目の方がいっぱい色を見えた。

An HEC Student!

Went to church a couple of weeks ago, during what is apparently summer vacation for university students.

２・３週間前に教会へ行った。大学生の夏休みらしい。

One of the girls who was a junior leader during my first time going to HEC was at church. Her grandmother goes to this church and her mother grew up as a part of it.

最少の英語のキャンプへ行った生徒がいた。びっくり！彼女のおばあさんはこの教会よく行く。

It’s a small world!

Veggie shop in town

When I visit the school in the area, I usually make a quick stop at the veggie shop before I head back to my main school.

近い学校へ行ったら、だいたい野菜の店へ行く。

The weather was gorgeous this time, so I knew I wanted to take some pictures.

今回天気は良かったから、写真を撮りたかった。

This is the GIANT melon that sits in front of the shop – that’s how you know where the shop is!

大きいメーロンが見れば、野菜の店でいる。

Outside they have scarecrows and a few things growing.

外でたくさん物がある。

These are the ladies who run the shop. The one on the right is new this year, the one on the left is one of my student’s mothers. She loves to gush about how much more Japanese I can speak. It’s good for my self-confidence : )

この2人は店員。左の人は今年に来た。右のは生徒のお母さん。毎回日本語の勉強の応援するから、とても嬉しい！

“Engrish”

A bit of “Engrish” to brighten your day.

おかしな英語。

One of my students regularly wears this shirt. Almost every time it makes me laugh.

1人生徒はこのシャツをよく着る。毎回私は笑う。

Standing in the HS parking lot

I live in the middle of the country. 

田舎に住んでいる。

One of the best things about living in the country is how beautiful it is. 

田舎に住んでいるのいい事は自然がきれい。

These are a couple of things I get to see from the parking lot of the high school I visit. 

高校へ行く時にこれが見える。

I don't know why, but I really like these trees. The fact that there is a sing line of them along the hill is visually interesting and I want to capture it with my camera. 

この木はなぜなら分からないけど、面白いと思う。線にあるから面白いからいつも写真を撮りたい。

Also, I love how colorful the roofs are on buildings. In the summer they have nice contrast and in the winter they're bright and cheery with white everywhere else. 

日本の屋根は色んな色がある事が好き。夏にいい対比色がある。冬に他の物ずっと白いでも屋根は明るい。

Pink things

The day was full of pink.

この日はピンクいっぱいあった。

I started my day with gooseberry jam, made by a friend.

朝食に友達を作ったのぐーずベリーのジャムを食べた。

I’ve never eaten gooseberry jam before, but it was delicious!

この前にぐーずベリージャムを食べたことないけど、とても美味しかった。

After that, I spotted this flower in one of my school’s parking lots. It was so pretty.

小学校の後にこの花は駐車場で見った。とてもきれい。

I love these kinds of flowers. They only bloom at my favorite time of year – the middle of summer.

この花が大好き。咲く時は大好きの時：夏の真ん中に。

Summer adventures: S-family barbecue

A friend invited me to join her family for a barbecue. They have their garage set up so you can do a barbecue inside.

We had a lot of delicious food. Sweet potatoes, green peppers, potatoes, meat. Yum!

たくさん美味しい食べ物があった。さつまいもとピーマンといもと肉。美味しかった！
