The end of the fun weekend

After seeing the lakes we headed for Kitami city to have lunch.

湖の後に北見へ昼食を食べに行った。

We ended up at a bakery called Loaf for lunch.

Loafと言うパン屋で食べた。

So many delicious breads.

たくさん美味しそうパンがあった。

Tea melon bread. Sounded yummy.

紅茶メロンパン。美味しそうと思った。

Herbs growing in old tomato cans.

トマトのカンでハーブを育っている。

Carrot soup.

人参スープ。

Lunch – bread, French onion soup, salad.

昼食は玉ねぎスープとパンとサラダ。

My dessert! Yummy chocolate cake.

私のデザート。美味しいチョコケーキ。

Then we found a musical playground at this michi-no-eki.

この道の駅で音楽の遊園地見たい所があった。

In the middle of an intense game of Shiritori, I made everyone stop at the pass so we could grab pictures of the stunning clouds from the pass.

しりとりの中にここで写真を撮りたかった。この峠でいい雲が見えたから。

After that we headed to Sonkyo to stop at an onsen.

層雲峡の温泉へ行った。

We went for the “Bath for beautiful women.” That's us! 

美人の湯があった！私だちだよ！ww

After the onsen, were we more beautiful?

温泉の後に美しになった？

Then it was time for a dinner at Surprise Donkey! (That’s what the restaurant’s name translates to – makes me giggle).

びっくりドンキーで夕食を食べた。

I got the Bibinbap burger.

ビンビンバの食べた。

After that, we decided to take advantage of the light in the parking lot to take some group photos.

それから、駐車場の光で皆の写真を撮った。

Our names started with B, L and T. So this was the BLT shot.

私たちの名前はBとLとTがあった。だから、BLTの写真。

失敗した。

A perfect jump shot! It only took us 20 shots to get it.

ジャンプのできた！後20枚ぐらいできた。

Summer Adventures: Dinner with a friend

My friend M used to work at the bank in town, but she moved a couple of years ago. She was back to fill in for someone, so she asked if I wanted to go out for dinner. 

Mちゃんは前時に町の信金に働いた。最近もう１日に信金で働いたから、一緒に晩御飯へ行った。

We decided to go out to Lake Kanayama first, because the day before, I had seen pictures on a friend's Facebook page and the flowers were still gorgeous. 

最初に金山湖へ行った。前の日に友達のFacebookできれい花の写真を見た。

Unfortunately, the photos must have been taken more than just a day before. The sunflowers were rather sad. 

でも、前の日に写真を撮らなかったかもしれない。ひまわりはかわいそう。

The lavender was still purple, but at the end of it's time. 

ラベンダーはむらさきけど、明るくなかった。

After the lake, we decided to go out for dinner at a cafe called Berries. It's a cute little shop, in the middle of nowhere. 

湖の後にベリーズカフェへ行った。田舎にかわいい店。

Their menus are super cute. 

メニューもかわいい。

When we got there, there was no one in the cafe. 

着いた時にだれもいなかった。

I love their big windows. 

このカフェの大きい窓が大好き！

We ordered the Paella. It came with a bit of bread and a salad. 

パエリアにした。パンとサラダとあった。

Also, bright red tomatoes. 

そして、明るいトマトがあった。

This was the paella. It was full of veggies and seafood. 

これはパエリア。野菜と海戦がいっぱいあった。

Afterwards, we decided to get dessert. They had all kinds of fresh berries topping and in the ice cream. 

パエリアの後にデザトーを食べた。たくさん生ベリーズがあった。

Bread!

On Tuesday night, I put this into the bread machine:

火曜日にこれがあった。

On Wednesday, I woke up to this! Whole wheat bread, which I could slice thinly, so I can make sandwiches!

水曜日の朝にこれがあった！全麦パン！

In other news, this was today’s school lunch. I miss vegetables . . .

今日の給食。野菜はどこ？

A Lazy Bento

Yesterday, I remembered that today was bento day at 5pm in a supermarket in Sapporo. Thankfully there were a lot of food choices. I bought bread and the stuff to make a salad.

昨日札幌のスーパーで「明日は弁当の日」思い出した。札幌のスーパーではたくさん食べ物があるから大丈夫だった。パンとサラダの物が買った。

I got home at 9pm and didn't care to put much effort into making a bento.

９時に帰った。弁当を作りたくなかったけど、作った。

Here is what my bento looked like today.

今日の弁当。

Bread and salad with pecans and basil dressing.

パンとサラダ。

I thought I was buying whole wheat bread, instead I got “black sugar” bread. It tasted like maple syrup. It was good, but didn't exactly go with basil dressing.

全麦パンが買ったと思ったけど、黒砂糖パンが買った。　メープルシロップ味があった。　美味しかったけど、ベジャールドレシングがあった。

As much as I didn't want to make a bento yesterday, I was glad today was bento day when I saw today’s lunch menu. Natto. Bento day for the win!

昨日作りたくなかったけど、今日の給食はなっと。弁当の方が美味しかった！
