Lake Kussharo

After our adventures at Lake Mashu, we headed for Lake Kusahro.

摩周湖の後に屈斜路湖へ行った。

We still had the morning light, so it was gorgeous!

朝の光があったから、とてもきれい写真ができた。

The weird thing about being a foreigner in Japan, is that people like taking pictures of us as much as of the scenery and their travel mates. As this photo was being taken, the the guy who took it’s friend also took a photo on his own camera. Why oh why????

日本人じゃないの悪い事は日本人は私たちと景色は同じぐらい写真を撮る事が好き。上の写真を撮る中に撮る人の友達は私たちの写真を撮った。なぜでしょう？

There was a foot bath.

足湯があった。

We found what we thought was a foot bath.

足湯が見つけた。

When we left, we realized it was just a normal outdoor onsen. No wonder there was a guy just hanging out in his underwear.

戻った時にこのサインが見た。普通の露天風呂だった。来た時に男の人はパンツだけいた事が分かった。

The water was so blue and the sky was so pretty!

水はとてもきれい青と天気は良かった。

A guy was out fishing.

もう1つ天然温泉。

We decided to explore.

After this, we headed on for Asahikawa.

それから、旭川へ行った。

Lake Mashu

On day 1 of our travels, we went hiking, had lunch and went on a cruise.
旅行の1日目にハイキングしたり、昼食を食べたり、クルーズをしたりした。

On day 2, we got up early to go explore the lakes and get to Asahikawa not too late.

2日目に湖と旭川へ行くのために早い起きた。

This is us in front of L and my first ever minshuku!

Lと私の初めての民宿！

Before we left for the lakes we went to go see a gorgeous view.

このきれい眺めがある所へ行った。

Stunning!

It seemed to be a park golf course in the midst of a bunch of farm land.

農場の間にパルクゴルフがあったらしい。

Lake Mashu. It reminded me a lot of Crater Lake, in Oregon.

摩周湖。オレゴン州のクレーターレイクと似てると思った。

If you turned your back to the lake, you could see for miles.

湖の反対にきれい眺め。

The water was such a stunning color.

水はとてもきれい色だったね。

The sky was really cool, too.

空もすごかった。

After this, we headed for Lake Kussharo.

この後に屈斜路湖へいった。

Birthday

After the barbecue, a few of us camped out by the lake. It was absolutely incredible to wake up to the next morning.

バーベキューの後４人は湖の近いにキャンプした。　朝にとてもとてもきれい。

Before everyone left, we went for ice cream. It was so delicious!

皆は帰るの前にアイスを食べた。とても美味しかった！

It was a really simple, but really good birthday.

簡単けど、いい誕生日があった。

A Friday drive

On Friday, I visited one of my tiny schools, there are only about 8 students in the whole elementary school. The tiny schools are awesome because I get to talk to all of the kids more.

金曜日にとても小さい小学校へ行った。全員は８人ぐらい。小さい学校に生徒とよく話せるから、大好き。

On my way home, I spotted this, a scene that I always think, I should take a picture, but there’s no good place to pull over. This time I realized it when driving back, and there’s an excellent place to pull over if you’re coming back into the main part of town.

帰る中にこれを見た。いつもきれいと思うけど、金曜日この所の最初写真を撮った。

366 Project, Week 5

(29/366) A sign I drive by regularly for an old rest stop that has since closed down. It has several old vending machines inside and a window that used to be for ordering Bentos (what the sign says).



(30/366) I was driving home and realized I still hadn’t taken a photo for the day. I spotted this scene and knew I wanted to capture it.


(31/366) Driving back from an elementary school, I spotted this scene. I wanted to capture it but the power poles kept getting in the way. I decided to try and embrace them and see what happened.


(32/365) I made sweet and sour chicken for dinner and wasn’t super happy with the results, so I decided to see what affect flash would have on the photo. Using my wireless flash, I was able to make my dinner stand out more and the background darker.


(33/366) After my success with the sweet and sour, I decided to see if I could isolate the strawberries. I liked the results.



(34/366) If it’s the breakfast of champions, can it also be the dinner of champions?



(35/366) This was the fun part of the day – I went snowboarding with two of my students. One is about the same height as me and the other is super, super short (and cute!).
