妹とお茶。

We ate bentos in Shinjuku Park. It was Children’s Day, so the park was full of families.

新宿公園に弁当を食べた。子供の日だから、たくさん家族がいた。

Yum!

美味しかった！

Then we headed for Harajuku.

原宿へ行った。

We found sakura ice cream!

桜アイスを食べた。

We had to find some people who were dressed in interesting ways in Harajuku.

原宿の面白い人。

Golden Week Day 8

Our first stop for the day was Ooedo Onsen Monogatari. Mandie's first-ever onsen. The light inside was terrible, so there are no pictures. 

最初はこの温泉へ行った。妹は温泉が始めた。中に光はとても黒いから、写真撮らなかった。

After the onsen, we went to Diver City, because I had heard an Old Navy had opened and I wanted to find clothes that fit. 

温泉の後にダイバーシティ東京へ行った。オールド・ネイビーと言う店へ行きたかったから。

Of course, we had to stop and take a picture of Gundam.

もちろん、この写真を撮った。

店で買いすぎたの後。

Golden Week Day 7

Breakfast with our new friends before we all head different directions.

離れるの前朝ご飯を食べた。

Our friend M gave us a ride to the station.

Mの車で駅まで乗った。

After we split up, Mandie and I headed to Tokyo station.

離れてから、妹と東京駅まで行った。

Mandie wanted to see a castle, so we headed to the Imperial Palace. I hadn’t really considered that we wouldn’t even be able to see the gardens inside.

皇居へ行った。

At a park nearby, there was a protest. We didn’t know why.

近い公園に抗言あった。なざかわからなかった。

Because of the protest, there were cops all around the park, but when we first saw the cops, we didn’t know about the protest and we wondered why they were so heavily guarding a park.

来た時に警察いっぱい見たけど、なぜが分からなかった。抗言を見たの後に分かった。

After our walk, we went back to the hostel and then out for dinner. Here’s Mandie with her first-ever onigiri (rice ball).

晩ご飯に妹は始めたおにぎりを食べた。

Dessert – a strawberry sandwich.

デザトーは苺のサンド。

The day started with me finding the cutest mail box ever.

この郵便箱はとてもかわいいと思た。

Mandie was flying in to Narita that afternoon, so I wandered to a park near the hostel, Sumida River Park, to read, people watch and chill outside.

妹は昼に成田空港へ来るから、ホステルの近い公園へ行った。隅田川公園と言う公園。

I was soo excited when she finally showed up.

来た！

After we got settled, we went back out and found one of the outdoor restaurants to eat in.

その後に外のレストランで食べた。

. . . right next to the lockers.

ロッカーの近いテーブルで食べた。

After dinner, we walked to the cat café.

晩ご飯の後に猫カフェへ行った。

Mandie was in heaven.

妹はとてもうれしかった。

This cat wanted to be my new best friend.

この猫は私の新しい友人になりたかった。

Then we went for convenience store dessert.

コンビニのデザトーを食べた。

Golden Week day 10 mobile

Mandie and I jumped in the photo booth and took a bunch of pictures, called Purikura in Japanese.

My sister made it to Japan!
妹は来た！

I made a mistake on the days though … I've got one extra day in Tokyo after she leaves!
日が間違った！私は東京に妹が帰るの後にもう1日がいる。

Grad School App–Check!

My grad school application is ready! Just have to print my essay and then it’s done! The reason the USB stick is in the pic.

大学院の申し込みをできた！エッセイをプリントの後送られる！（その理由USBがある）

In other happy news, I leave for Tokyo tomorrow and I'll get to see Mandie soon!!!

明日東京へ行く！いますぐ妹は来る！

Packing

Less than a week till my sister comes to Japan! I’m so excited!

１週以下に妹は日本へ来る！楽しみ！

I spent the evening packing . . .  and procrastinating. So I didn’t take any new photos, so here are a few of my lovely sister!
