Golden Week Day 12

We saw Otaka’s Path in a guidebook and liked the pictures, so we decided to go.

ガイドブックお鷹の道を見たから行って見た。

It was pretty.

きれい。

But really, it wasn’t so interesting.

本当にとても面白くなかった。

Mandie bought a Kitty.

妹はキティちゃんを買った。

After she left, I headed to my hostel.

妹は飛行機でいたの後にホステルへ行った。

It was only a few minutes south of Narita Airport, but it was in the middle of nowhere.

成田空港の南に５分ぐらいかかったけど、とても田舎の所。

I went to my first-ever not-Hokkaido Michi-no-Eki (like a cross between an information center, local shop, rest stop and restaurant).

最初の北海道以外道の駅へ行った。

This was the hostel’s bicycle.

ホステルの自転車。

All these strawberries for 300 yen – so cheap! (I’ve been in Japan too long . . . )

この苺は300円。安い！日本に住んでいる事は長すぎる。

Golden Week Day 8

Our first stop for the day was Ooedo Onsen Monogatari. Mandie's first-ever onsen. The light inside was terrible, so there are no pictures. 

最初はこの温泉へ行った。妹は温泉が始めた。中に光はとても黒いから、写真撮らなかった。

After the onsen, we went to Diver City, because I had heard an Old Navy had opened and I wanted to find clothes that fit. 

温泉の後にダイバーシティ東京へ行った。オールド・ネイビーと言う店へ行きたかったから。

Of course, we had to stop and take a picture of Gundam.

もちろん、この写真を撮った。

Golden Week Day 4

We started the day by making a new friend in the hostel and wandering around Asakusa. 

朝に新しい友達を始めて浅草に歩いた。

Sensoji temple was our first stop, in the daylight. 

浅草寺へ行った。

For lunch, we decided to try one of the interesting ramen shops in Asakusa.  

昼ご飯は面白いラーメンを食べた。

We ate the Szechwan Black Sesame Ramen. 

これを食べた（この漢字が読めない）。

Lunch! It was spicy, but delicious. 

辛くて美味しかった！

The three of us. This was Oskar's first time using chopsticks, but he did it. 

3人友達。Oは橋が始めたけど、できた。 

These two made our delicious lunch.

After lunch, it was time for purikura. 

昼ご飯の後にプリクラした。

We stayed in the capsule hotel that night. 

カプセルホテルに泊まった。

We went for Okonomiyaki for dinner. 

晩ご飯にお好み焼きレストランへ行った。

When we walked in the door, the owners freaked out because they couldn't speak any English. 

店員は私たち見たにパニックした。何回も「英語を話せない」と言った。

Mandie and Oskar loved it!

Golden Week Day 3

The day started with me finding the cutest mail box ever.

この郵便箱はとてもかわいいと思た。

Mandie was flying in to Narita that afternoon, so I wandered to a park near the hostel, Sumida River Park, to read, people watch and chill outside.

妹は昼に成田空港へ来るから、ホステルの近い公園へ行った。隅田川公園と言う公園。

I was soo excited when she finally showed up.

来た！

After we got settled, we went back out and found one of the outdoor restaurants to eat in.

その後に外のレストランで食べた。

. . . right next to the lockers.

ロッカーの近いテーブルで食べた。

After dinner, we walked to the cat café.

晩ご飯の後に猫カフェへ行った。

Mandie was in heaven.

妹はとてもうれしかった。

This cat wanted to be my new best friend.

この猫は私の新しい友人になりたかった。

Then we went for convenience store dessert.

コンビニのデザトーを食べた。

Golden Week Day 2

The day started with me deciding I was going to walk from Asakusa to Ueno park. I looked at the map and saw that it was mostly a grid, so I picked a random street and walked in that direction.

浅草から上野公園まで歩くこと決まった。地図を見た時に浅草と上野の中に道はグリッド見たいから、矢鱈に道が選んで歩いた。

Along the way, I found this random shrine between two buildings.

途中に二つ建物の中にこの面白い神社を見た。

This shrine was inside Ueno Park. I thought it was really pretty. Though, having just escaped the eternal winter of Hokkaido, I was bound to think anything that included sunshine and green trees was pretty.

上野公園にこの神社があった。きれいと思ったけど、北海道の冬から逃げったから、太陽があったら、緑色な木があったら、何でもきれいね。

The lake inside of Ueno Park. I loved how it close it was to the rest of the city.

上野公園の中の湖。市はとても近い。

A picture of me, taken because mom is always annoyed that there are never pictures of me in my travel photos.

私はいる写真があまり撮らないけど、お母さんいつも私はいる写真見たいから、撮った。

Korean Café was the name of this restaurant. Can you guess what kind of food they had?

韓国料理カフェ。

First was corn tea and a mini towel to wipe your hands on.

コーン茶とタオル。

Next was salad.

次はサラダ。

They had a Korean version of MTV playing in the background.

韓国の音楽のビデオがあった。

Bibimbap.

ビビンバ！

It was a perfect lunch.

とても美味しかった。

これはどこへ行くかと思った。

After I left the park, I decided to explore Ueno a little bit.

公園から出てから、上野で歩いた。

This stand was selling fresh melon on sticks. Yum!

この店はメーロンがあった。おいしい！

This guy was shouting to get customers to come into his store.

この人の仕事は大変。

After a long day of walking around I had to decide what to eat for dinner, after even more walking I decided on this pizza shop that had calzones.

長い歩いてから、晩御飯を決める事必要だた。もう少し歩いてから、イタリアのレストランでカルシォーネを食べた。
