Beautiful Fall Day

I was driving yesterday from one school to the other and I saw this. 

最近１つ学校から、他の学校まで運転中にこれが見た。

All I could think was "Thank you Lord, for sending me to this gorgeous place." 

「キリストへこのきれい所へ来てありがとう」だけと思った。

If you look closely, you can see snow covered mountains behind the closer hills (they blend a lot with the clouds in this shot). 

丘の後ろに雪がある山を見えるけど、雲見たい。

Elementary English today

For English class today, we studied shapes, and then made jack-o-lanterns. 

今日の授業に形を勉強してから、ジャックランタンを作った。

The kids' designs were so cute! 

生徒のはとてもか分かった！

These were all the pumpkins! The school is so small that in the 1-4th grades, there are only 4 students (plus the 2 pumpkins the teachers made). 

これは全部があった。この学校はとても小さい。１から4年生は4人だけ（＋先生の2つの）

It was a lot of fun and a good practice for next week, when I'll do this with another school. 

楽しくて、来週こうもするためにいい練習。

Small town fun

One wonderful thing about living in the country is that sometimes, I come home to a bag of veggies hanging on my door.

田舎に住んでいるのいい事は時々帰る時に、ドアのハンドルで野菜がある。

It took me a day to figure out who these ones were from.

1日間に誰かから分からなかった。

The next day I got an email from my supervisor saying she had left them.

翌日に仕事の友達からメールをもらった。

Also, the sunrises are gorgeous.

そして、日の出がすばらしい。

Small Town Festival

On Thursday, one of the small areas in town had their town festival.

木曜日に祭りへ行った。

Lots of adorable little ones all dressed up for the festival.

たくさんとても小さい子供が来た。

There was even a magic show, featuring my friend, M. 

マジックショウがあった。友達いた。

This little guy wanted to help with the magic show.

この子供は手伝いたい。

Later, he ended up sitting in my lap while a music group played.

その後私たち一緒に座った。

Time to make M disappear.

なくなる。

Where did she go?

どこへ行った？

Now we’ll make this beer disappear in 3 seconds.

次3秒にビールがなくなる。

 

Didn’t work. Let’s give it one more try.

できなかった。　もう一回しよう。

Last was the “young men.” They were a little more like drunk college boys though.

One of the things I love about my town

One of the things I love about my tiny town is the produce stand with all of it’s amazing summer veggies!

住んでいる町について大好きな事は野菜の店！夏の野菜がいっぱい！

The small town rumor mill

I live in a tiny town in Hokkaido. It’s one of the smallest ones that I’ve heard of an ALT being placed in. My town has around 2,700 people. It’s pretty tiny and shrinking.



The fun about living in a small town is that everybody knows everything that is happening in your life (or think they do).

The other day I was having dinner with some friends in town and I was informed that I had a boyfriend. This was news to me. What happened that had suggested this to people in town???

I asked her why she thought this. Apparently I was seen walking with a guy in town, a foreign “young” guy. I pushed her for more information, she said it had been a few weeks ago and near the station.

That was a few weeks after I had bought my new car. I realized that my “new boyfriend” was the guy I had bought my car from and that he is probably 10 years my senior.

Well, we cleared that up among ourselves, but it makes me wonder what other random, crazy rumors are floating around my town based off of small things that have no basis in reality.
