Another beautiful Sunday

Today was another beautiful Sunday!

今日がすごい綺麗な日曜日。

The flowers at church had started to bloom.

教会の前の花が咲いている。

With such beautiful weather and no lunch after church this week, we decided to go for a picnic in a nearby park.

とても綺麗な天気があったし、教会の食事がないから、ピクニックにした。

After a few tries, we managed to take a 4-person selfie.

３回目にこの写真の中に皆の顔が入れた。

After we finished lunch, we walked around the park and saw what was the world’s longest bench until 2012, when Switzerland built a longer bench.

ピクニックの後に公園に歩いた。２０１２年まで世界の一番長いベンチが見た。今スイスに一番長いのがある。

Easter!

Today was the Easter service at church. The whole week, I got more and more excited about it coming.

今日は教会のイースター礼拝だった。今週ずっと私は楽しみだった。

On Saturday, K, M and I prepared for the potluck. We had a lot of fun making lots of different food.

土曜日にKとMと私は今日の食べ物の準備した。いっぱい食べ物作った。

We dyed eggs. The recipe was super simple: food color, vinegar and water.

卵をさまざまな色に染めた。このようしたことないから、とても簡単の事がびっくりした。酢と着色料と水だけ。

Besides the purple eggs, they turned out really well! (Middle right)

むらさき以外とてもいい色になった。（むらさきは右の真ん中）

After that we made a layered thing. We ended up with marshmallow all over our hands!

その後プリン見たい物を作った。

We also made Cadbury Cream egg type candy. Though we decided to make half of them in mint flavor.

アメリカでとても有名なあめ見たい物を作った。半分はミントの味。

I miss counted the number of school lunch milks we would need for the layer dessert, and we had 8 extras.

数えた事が間違ったから、プリンの物作ってから、８個給食の牛乳が残った。

We decided to try making cheese!

だから、チーズを作って見た。

Making food was super fun.

とても楽しかった！

Today was Easter.

今日はイースター

I brought friends from town and we drove to church together.

町の友達と会って、教会まで一緒に運転した。

I’ve been reading a Lent devotional having to do with Easter and between that and today being my last Easter at this Church for now, I was super excited.

最近キリストの生活の話を読んでいた。それと今日は多分私のこの教会で最後イースターのパティへ行けるからとても楽しみだった。

When we repeated “He is Risen” 3 times at the beginning of the service, I felt my heart getting lighter and lighter. If Christ can conquer death, he really can do anything!

３回「主はよみがえられました。」と言いた。毎回に心でとても嬉しくなる。是非キリストの方が死ぬの事より強かったら、キリストは何でもできる！

After the service there was a baptism. My friend who translates had to leave before then, so I didn’t understand much of her story of becoming a Christian, but it’s wonderful to see the Lord working.

礼拝の後に洗礼式があった。通訳できる友達は帰ったから、キリストが信じるの話があまり分からなかったけど、とても嬉しかった。

After that, it was time for the party. We prepped the food and then had lunch together. Everyone made really delicious food.

その後にパティの時！食べ物の準備して、昼食を食べた。とても美味い食べ物があった。

Every Christmas and Easter this family makes really delicious yakisoba.

毎年はこの家族は美味しい意焼きそばを作る。

When we finished eating, my friends M, K and T played 2 songs. They’ve formed a band called “King’s Garden.” It was fun to listen to them.

食べるの後にMとKとTは２曲を歌った。King's Gardenと言うのバンド。すごい楽しかった！

The woman in the middle got baptized today. A few people from church talked about getting to know her.

間中の女の人は洗礼式した。３人ぐらいこの人について言いた。

My pastor is always playing with the small kids.

牧師はいつも子供たちと遊んでいる。可愛い！

Today was M’s last day at church. We don’t know when or if she’ll be back.

今日はMの最後の日にいる。まだ帰るかどうかわからない。

After church, we did a bit of shopping.

教会の後にちょっと買い物した。

We drove most of the way home and stopped at a restaurant for dinner. Dinner was delicious, but huge! I couldn’t eat it all after the church potluck.

帰る前に夕食を食べた。美味しくて大きかった。教会の昼食の後に食べ切れなかった。

First day of boarding

I’m super behind on blogging. Probably because of boarding season this year.

スーボードのせいか、最近ブログしなかった。

This was the first day of boarding season. B and I met up with some friends and did exactly one run because of another event.

この日は今年の最初の日。Bと友達が会って、ボードした。でも、他のイベントがあった、から遅くなった。

My friends. We had a good time.

４人友達！楽しかった。

Of course, after boarding cake is a necessity.

もちろん、スーのボードの後にケーキが必要ね。

After boarding, we made nabe. I’d never had takoyaki nabe. T and I thought A was crazy for suggesting it.

なべを作った。Aのおすすめ味はたこ焼き。Tと私は本当に美味しいかな？と思った。

We were all super hungry when it was finally ready.

とてもお腹が空いた。

Ice Candle Festival

 Hi there blog readers! It’s been a while since my last blog, sorry about that!

久しぶりブログを読むの人！長い間にブログしなかった。ごめんね！

I’ll have to catch you up on fun recent events later. But for now, here’s the fun events from this evening.

最近の楽しい事が後でブログするつもりけど、今日の楽しいイベントの写真が見せる。

I got to one of my tiny elementary schools before dark. They had lit the ice candles and they were glowing beautifully!

暗くなる前に小さい小学校へ行った。蝋燭ががあった。

After they lit the candles, we went inside.

次に皆学校の中に行った。

While the kids were sorting out where they wanted to sit, one of my students younger siblings (preschool age) remembered me and requested that I sit next to him. Soo cute!!

生徒がどこか座る事が決まる中に２人の生徒の幼稚園の弟が「ここに座ってくだいさ」と言いた！うれしかった！

The moms had made ramen soup with mochi in it.

お母さんたちはラーメンスープと餅が作った。

After eating, two of my boys started talking to me. One of them came at the beginning of the school year. He was popping up with questions in English that I definitely hadn’t taught him!

食べるの後に２人男性と話した。１人は４月に来たけど、いっぱい英語の質問が聞いた。びっくり！私はぜひその質問が教えなかった！

After dinner, we went back outside to see the ice candles at night. They were so pretty!

夕食の後に外へ蝋燭を見に戻った。すごいきれい！

After that, it was time to go home. I began the drive back into town and I returned to this.

それから、帰る時間になった。運転する中にこれが見た。

I love coming back to town in the winter and seeing the ski hill lit up!

冬に帰る時にスキー場の光が見える事が大好き！

Couch Surfers

After meeting at the Christmas concert the night before, I hosted my very first Couch Surfers from Taiwan.  

クリスマスライブで会ったの後にCouchSurfingの人が私の家に泊まった。この人は台湾人。たのしかった！

It was their first time ever seeing snow, they took a million photos of it - it was fun watching them.

雪が初めてから、たくさん写真を撮った。見る事が楽しかった。

Of course, we had to have one by the bagel shop. 

もちろん、べグルの店の近いの撮った。

We went for bagels - yum!

待ちる時に。

If you order bread,  you get jam. I'd never had it, it was yummy. 

パンを注文したら、ジャムももらった。注文をしたことないけど、美味しかった。

They talked the bagel guy into letting us behind the counter. I'd never even thought to ask before!

Hosting Couch Surfers was a lot of fun!

MYC 2013

These are some highlights from this year’s MYC.

今年のALTの研修の楽しい事。
