Dinner with friends

I went out with some ladies from my choir. 

合唱の女たちと夕食を食べた。

We decided to order onigiri as a part of our meal. They were shocked when I heard ume (pickled plum) and ordered it. It was delicious. I love ume. 

おにぎりを注文した。梅が来たすぐに決めった。皆びっくりした。美味しかった。梅が大好き。

Here are the ladies I had dinner with and then went to karaoke with. All but one of them are in choir with me and one of them is in my adult English class. 

このグループと夕食を食べてカラオケをした。３人は合唱の友達。１人は英会話の友達。

After the training

After the training, T came and picked E and I up from the hotel. Then we headed for Abashiri, our first stop in our fun 3-day weekend trip.

研修の後にTちゃんはEと私に迎えに行った。女満別から網走へ行った。

We looked at an Abashiri guide to decide where to eat. We decided on a restaurant that boasted that they were “まずくて、高い” (not delicious and expensive). We were curious.

網走の案内地図を見て、どこで食べて決めた。レストランの説明は「まずくて、高い」。私たちは好奇心をそそった。

The first thing to do, of course, in any city is to find a parking space.

最初に大きい市に駐車場を見つける。

This proved difficult, so we decided to buy donuts and park in Mr. Donuts’ parking lot.

難しかったから、ミスタードーナツで買ってミスタードーナツで駐車した。

駐車許可証ですね。

After that, we headed to the restaurant.

それから、レストランへ行った。

The first thing we ordered, was onigiri (rice balls).

最初の食べ物はおにぎり。

We decided to try a new fish, Nametakarei.

新しい魚を食べて見た。なめたかれいですね。

We also decided to try this, henpen cheese.

これも食べて見た。はんぺんチーズですね。

The restaurant was actually delicious and not so expensive.

実はレストランは美味しくて高すぎなかった。

Cute dinner with friends

I had some of my friends over for dinner.

4人友達は夕食を食べに来た。

K is pretty much the queen of cute food. She made these amazing onigiri. In the past, she’s also made totoro onigiri

Kはかわいい食べ物を作る事がとても上手。このかわいいおにぎりが作った。そして、前にととろおにぎりも作った。

Not only were they cute, but they were delicious.

かわいくて美味しかった。

I made minestrone. This time I used Hello Kitty pasta.

ミネストローネが作った。今回キティちゃんのパスタが入った。

K made her amazing giraffe roll cake. Yum!

Kちゃんはキリン見たいロールケーキを作った。

Of course, we took a group picture, and then we took a few more.

もちろん、グループの写真を撮った。それから、いくつかのを撮った。

These girls are so much fun!

この友達はとても楽しい！

Golden Week Day 7

離れるの前朝ご飯を食べた。

Our friend M gave us a ride to the station.

Mの車で駅まで乗った。

After we split up, Mandie and I headed to Tokyo station.

離れてから、妹と東京駅まで行った。

Mandie wanted to see a castle, so we headed to the Imperial Palace. I hadn’t really considered that we wouldn’t even be able to see the gardens inside.

皇居へ行った。

At a park nearby, there was a protest. We didn’t know why.

近い公園に抗言あった。なざかわからなかった。

Because of the protest, there were cops all around the park, but when we first saw the cops, we didn’t know about the protest and we wondered why they were so heavily guarding a park.

来た時に警察いっぱい見たけど、なぜが分からなかった。抗言を見たの後に分かった。

After our walk, we went back to the hostel and then out for dinner. Here’s Mandie with her first-ever onigiri (rice ball).

晩ご飯に妹は始めたおにぎりを食べた。

Dessert – a strawberry sandwich.

Dinner with friends

I went to a friend’s house for dinner this week.

今週友達の家で晩ご飯を食べに行った。

She invited a couple of other friends and we had a small party.

４人来た。

She put me in charge of the rice balls. They’re Totoro rice balls, aren’t they cute?

ととろおにぎり。Kちゃんは食べ物が作ることが上手ね。

As always, K makes a very delicious dinner.
