Memanbetsu Training

I headed out to Memanbetsu for an ALT training.

女満別の研修へ行った。

友達と旭川から電車を乗った。

After we got there, we went for a walk.

着いたの後に歩いた。

Lちゃんと網走湖。

After our walk and a stop at the michi-no-eki, we decided on yakiniku for dinner.

歩いて道の駅へ行って、夕食に焼肉にした。

We stayed at the hotel my vice-principal recommended, so I had to take a picture.

校長先生のおすすめホテルで泊まったから、写真を撮る事が必要だった。

Summer Adventures: Wakkanai

After the Lake Festival, C and I went to HEC camp and then on to Wakkanai.

湖水祭りの後にCとHECキャンプへ行った。キャンプから稚内へ行った。

On our first day, E worked until lunch time.

最初の日にEは昼まで仕事した。

For lunch we decided to have sushi – yum!

昼食に寿司にした。美味しかった！

I had Miso Salmon,

みそ鮭と

scallops,

ホタテと

and miso eggplant! My favorite!!

となす！大好き！！

After lunch, we decided to play park golf because it would be C’s last chance to play in Japan.

昼食の後にパークゴルフをした。　日本にCは最後のパークゴルフした。

It was super windy while we were playing park golf, so we were super cold.

パークゴルフをした時に風が強かったから、皆は寒かった。

We decided Bibimpap sounded good, so we decided to go to a yakiniku place to eat dinner. (Dad, Bibimbap is Korean food). 

ビビンバが美味しそうから、夕食に焼肉店へ行った。

It was delicious and warm – exactly what we needed after a cold game of park golf.

美味しくて暖かった。パークゴルフの後に完璧だった。

Yakiniku with my big ES

Last Friday, I got to continue my yakiniku-life and have a party with some of the elementary school teachers. It was a ton of fun.

金曜日に1週間に４回目焼肉した。大きい小学校の先生と。とても楽しかった。

Garlic chives. I don’t think I’d eaten these before, but they taste like garlic. I ate half the ones that were put on the grill during the first go-round.

この前に多分ニラを食べたことない。ニンニク味があったから、たうさんを食べた。

I waited a little too long in the fading light . . . should have taken a group shot earlier.

黒くなったから、少しピンぼけ所がある。

After it was dark, we played bingo. I was in the loud group, shouting at the teacher who was calling the numbers that they must be wrong because they weren’t our cards . . . I’m never in the loud group in Japanese.

黒くなったの後にビンゴした。うるさいグループにいた。今回始まったけど。先生は私たちのビンゴカード以外番号が言ったら、私たちは「違うよ」と言った。

Yakiniku weekend, part 3

It was a long weekend, so I had Monday off. I was invited to a yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) party.

月曜日は休みから、焼肉パーティがあった。

M-sensei’s Birthday

On Saturday we celebrated M-sensei’s birthday.

土曜日にM先生の誕生日のパーティした。

We had yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) for dinner.

After dinner, we did fireworks.

晩ご飯の後に花火した。

School festival day 1

We went to the old people’s home and the students danced for them. I loved the line up of old ladies in their hats.

生徒はおばあちゃんとおじいちゃんの前に踊った。　おばあちゃんのぼしはかわいい。

I got the picture of them throwing water balloons at each other.

水風船の写真ができた！

Many of my kids watched the dress-like-a-guy/girl show through their camera screens.

たくさん生徒はカメラから見た。

Dinner time! We made yakiniku (Japanese BBQ).

夕食の時間。焼肉を食べた。

A man came and did rakugo for us. Unfortunately, I was super sleepy, which made listening super hard.

落語した人来た。私はとても眠たいから、聞くこと難しかった。

Then there was bon-odori dancing.

その後に盆踊り。

Last, fireworks!

最後は花火！

The first day of the festival was a lot of fun.

学校祭の1日目は楽しかった。
